Quick answer: mise is an inventory app: on your phone you scan the barcode (or take a photo) and the product comes back complete; on your PC you open www.mise.ws in the browser with the same account to see stock on hand, compare counts, check waste and export to Excel or PDF. Nothing to install on Windows or Mac.

People who search for an inventory app for PC usually want two things: count fast, and then review in peace on a big screen. Those are two different jobs, and each one suits a different device. mise is built that way: you count on the phone, which has the camera, and you work on the computer, in the browser.

Get started in five steps

  1. Create the account (on the PC is fine) and install the app on your phone from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Set up the locations you count: stockroom, walk-in, bar, shop floor.
  3. Do the first count on the phone, scanning barcodes. Products come up complete, with no names to type.
  4. On the PC, open www.mise.ws and review the closed count, stock value and what changed.
  5. Export to Excel or PDF and send it to whoever needs it.

Can I use only the PC?

Yes, with a USB scanner: the code lands in the search field and you pick the product. That works well at a counter, at receiving or to fix a count. Walking the shelves with a laptop is clumsy, though, and the phone is faster. What most teams settle on is counting on the phone and reviewing on the PC.

Several people, several devices

Each team member signs in with their own access, on a phone or a PC. The owner decides what each person sees and which stores and locations they can count in, and can hide costs and values from people who only count. It stays one count, even with several people scanning at once. If you run more than one site, see counting stock across several locations.

Compared with a spreadsheet on your PC

Plenty of businesses start with a spreadsheet on the computer, and with a short list it is enough. It stops working when every item has to be typed, when sheets from several people have to be merged and when you want to compare month to month. If that is where you are, grab the inventory spreadsheet template; when counting starts eating hours, read AI vs Excel for inventory.
