Which businesses mise is for: any business that sells products with a barcode
By mise · Updated October 15, 2026
Quick answer: mise is for any business that keeps stock of packaged products with a barcode: scan the barcode with your phone camera (or snap a photo) and the product comes up complete and categorized. Anything without a barcode (house-made items, flowers, own-label clothing) is added by hand once, with a name and a photo. Below, the guide for each type of business.
Scan the barcode or snap a photo: mise's AI finds the product and brings it back categorized, in any type of business. From the bakery to the optician, from the butcher to the phone shop: the same app counts stock, shows loss in money and builds the order list.
The question comes up often: "does mise work for my business?" If you sell or use products with a barcode, it does. This page lists every type of business that has its own guide, with what gets counted, where money is lost and how mise helps in each one.
What is the same in every business
In any business the path is the same: point the camera at the barcode (or snap a photo of the label) and mise's AI finds the product and brings it back categorized, with name, brand, photo, size or weight, group, subgroup and category. You count by zone, with your team, each person on their own phone with their own permissions. Minimum stock turns red and builds the reorder list in PDF, Excel, WhatsApp or email. Supplier invoices import as XML, Excel or CSV. Two counts compared show stock in, stock out, loss and the period's cost in money. Everything exports to Excel and PDF. Unlimited items, counts and scans.

What about products with no barcode?
House-made items (the cake, the sandwich, the flower arrangement), own-label clothing, loose parts and older stock often have no barcode. You add them by hand once, with a name and a photo, and from then on they count like everything else. If the item has a label, snap a photo of it so mise's AI can try to identify it. Loose and weighed goods (butcher, greengrocer) are counted with a Bluetooth scale or a photo of the scale display; the store's own scale label (a barcode starting with 2) identifies the item.
Whatever you sell: scan the barcode and the product comes up complete. 7-day free trial, no card.

Does mise work for my business?
If you sell or use products with a barcode, yes: restaurants, bars, grocery stores, pharmacies, beauty stores, shops of every kind, hotels and distributors. Find your type of business in the list above.
What if my products have no barcode?
Add them by hand once, with a name and a photo, and they count like everything else from then on. With a label, the photo helps mise's AI identify them.
Does it work for more than one store?
Yes: each store is a location in the same account, with its own team and counts, and the manager sees everything in the browser on a PC.
Do I have to set up products before counting?
No. Scan the barcode and the product comes up; only items with no barcode are created by hand.
